Field Cisco Network Engineer/Huntington Bank Cisco VOIP Rollout

Traveled to the branch location I was assigned, meet with the Branch Manager and discuss what I was going to be doing and the impact it would have on the branch as I worked at his/her location. Located and tested each POTS line and cross-connected to the patch panel as needed. Patched each of the POTS lines into the Cisco Router FXO ports and made custom cables if the provided cables were not long enough. Unboxes, setup and configured each phone for the location. Ran through a set of test procedures which including testing each of the internal extensions along with each extension that had a DID assigned to it, made sure voicemail was working properly and tested 911 emergency calling to verify they had the correct branch information. Performed a training session for all branch employees and walked all of them through how to answer calls, transfer calls, send directly to voicemail, use built in phone directory and change ringer on phone.

Worked in an MCI Managed Service NOC and proactively monitored all customer data circuits and CPE for outages and issues. Created loops in the smartjack or CSU/DSU and ran stress tests within the circuit to test the reliability of the equipment. Dialed into the CPE router and verified all interfaces were up, checked for errors and looked for data loss or bouncing interfaces. Dispatched field tech when needed on the customer premises or at the POP depending on where the issue was found.
